Maria Mudryak as Violetta in La traviata at the Teatro San Carlo of Naples

On April 30, 2017 Maria Mudryak will sing the title role of La traviata at the Teatro San Carlo of Naples, in a celebrated production by Ferzan Ozpetek conducted by Renato Palumbo. This marks her return to the famed Teatro San Carlo after her debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in the fall of 2016.

Violetta, which Maria Mudryak has already sung at the Opera di Firenze, Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa and Astana Opera, has already taken a special place in the Kazakh-born soprano: “Violetta is my favorite role, both vocally and dramatically. I feel it, it doesn’t tire me and I find it congenial to my voice, in all of its three acts. I see her as a very strong and intelligent woman, though her internal frailty must also come across to the audience. She is so strong and volitive, already disillusioned with life, and yet she falls in love with all her heart and sacrifices everything for her beloved. I am twenty-three years old, just like the “real life” Violetta, and I can understand her will to live.”

Other 2016 / 2017 engagements include La traviata at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro San Carlo Naples, Valencienne in The Merry Widow at the Opera House NCPA China, Musetta in La bohème at the NCPA Mumbai, Mimì in La bohème at the Astana Opera, and two operatic galas alongside Leo Nucci in Piacenza and Modena.
