Maria Mudryak to take part in the opening ceremony of the 2017 Expo in Astana

On June 9, 2017 Maria Mudryak will participate in the inaugural ceremony of the EXPO 2017, performing a vocalise on the folk song melody “Yapurai”, a lyrical symbol of Kazakh music.

“I’m so happy to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the EXPO 2017, which runs in my native country”, states Maria Mudryak. “I am proud of Kazakhstan becoming the heart of the world’s attention in the sphere of the Energy of the future for three months, and want to invite guests from all the countries to share the enjoyment of this event with me and my country! Feelings of responsibility and happiness fulfill me.”

Twenty-three year old Maria Mudryak, despite her young age, has taken the opera world by storm particularly for her harrowing and acclaimed portrayal of Violetta in La traviata, which she has sung at the Opera di Firenze, Teatro San Carlo Naples, Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa and at the Astana Opera.

Born in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan of Russian descent, Maria Mudryak moved to Italy at the age of 10 to pursue her vocal training. One year later she was admitted at the children’s chorus of the Teatro alla Scala. At the age of 14 she was accepted (an exception, due to her young age) at the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, where she graduated with honors four years later.

Engagements after the inauguration concert of the EXPO include Marie in La fille du régiment at NCPA Beijing, Mimì in La bohème at the Opera di Firenze and Violetta in La traviata at the Teatro Verdi of Salerno.
