SAIMIR PIRGU IN L’ELISIR D’AMORE AT WIENER STAATSOPER

On June 17, 2019 Saimir Pirgu will return to the Wiener Staatsoper as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, conducted by Guillermo García Calvo in the production by Otto Schenk. Pirgu will sing alongside Andrea Carroll, Samuel Hasselhorn and Paolo Rumetz, among others.

Pirgu was last heard at the Wiener Staatsoper as Alfredo in La traviata earlier this season. As Nemorino, he has previously appeared there in twelve performances of the current Otto Schenk production, beginning in 2004 with his debut at the Wiener Staatsoper, a performance that won him the “Eberhard Wächter Gesangsmedaille”. His most recent appearance as Nemorino in Vienna, in 2015, also saw the tenor working with conductor Guillermo García Calvo. Pirgu has additionally been heard as Nemorino in productions at the New National Theatre Tokyo, where he also sang with Calvo, as well as at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome.

Future engagements for Pirgu after this L’elisir d’amore include La traviata (Alfredo) at the Greek National Opera in Athens, La bohème (Rodolfo) at the Los Angeles Opera, and Carmen (Don José) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
