SAIMIR PIRGU IN MADAMA BUTTERFLY IN NAPLES

On April 16, 2019 Saimir Pirgu will appear as F.B. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly in the premiere of a new Ferzan Ozpetek production at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. Gabriele Ferro will conduct. Pirgu’s further performances will be on April 18 and 20, 2019. He will share the stage with Evgenia Muraveva, Raffaella Lupinacci, and Giovanni Meoni, among others.

Pirgu has most recently been heard as Pinkerton while making his very successful role debut at the Zurich Opera, singing in a new production by Ted Huffman during the 2017/2018 season. This premiere of Ferzan Ozpetek’s new staging follows Pirgu’s previous collaboration with the director on the premiere of a highly acclaimed La traviata staging at the Teatro di San Carlo several seasons ago.

After these performances, Pirgu will appear as the soloist in Berlioz’s Requiem in Vienna, followed by singing Nemorino in L’Elisir d’amore at the Vienna State Opera and Alfredo in the premiere of a new La traviata production at the Greek National Opera in Athens.
