Sonya Yoncheva returns to her native Bulgaria, more specifically to Bulgaria Hall in Sofia, to perform two concerts, on April 12 and 15, 2023, mostly devoted to the music of Georg Friedrich Handel, though arias by Rameau, Purcell, and other contemporary composers will be also featured. Violinist Zefira Kostova will be a special guest.
Sonya Yoncheva, an alumna of William Christie’s Le Jardin des Voix, is a specialist in the Baroque repertoire, to which she returns with regularity. Last fall, between two productions of Giordano’s Verismo Fedora at La Scala and at the Metropolitan Opera, she presented three Handel concerts in three of France’s most iconic places, including the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles.

Sonya Yonchevais always eager to perform in her native Bulgaria: the last time she sang in the country was in a concert with Plácido Domingo she personally produced.
