On November 7, 9 and 13, 2022, Sonya Yoncheva will perform music by George Frideric Handel in France. On the 7th, the little concert tour will kick off at the Hall of Mirrors of the Château de Versailles with the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal led by Stefan Plewniak. The program will include arias from Serse, Alcina, Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Rinaldo and Theodora, as well as Arcangelo Corelli’s Concerto Grosso. The Bulgarian soprano returns to l’Opéra Royal for the first time after her widely acclaimed debut in 2011 as Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare.

The same program will be repeated at the Chapelle de la Trinité, Lyon, on November 9 and at La Coursive Grand Théâtre, La Rochelle on November 13.

Although in this last decade she has decidedly moved towards the big bel-canto, Verdi, Puccini and Verismo roles, Sonya Yoncheva is an alumna of William Christie’s Le Jardin des Voix and has maintained a special focus on the Early and Baroque repertory.
