SONYA YONCHEVA | IOLANTA | BADEN-BADEN

On April 17, 2022, Sonya Yoncheva will lead a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta at the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, singing the title role in a one-off concert performance conducted by Kirill Petrenko. With the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in the pit, she will share the stage with Mika Kares as King Renè, Liparit Avetisyan as Count Vaudemont, Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Robert, Duke of Burgundy and Michael Kraus as Ebn Chakia.

The soprano, who has already graced the stage the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden as Desdemona in Otello, Marguerite in Faust as well as in various gala concerts, is not new to the role of Iolanta, having performed it at the Metropolitan Opera New York and the Opéra National de Paris.
