After debuting it to rave reviews this past spring at the Wiener Staatsoper, Sonya Yoncheva returns to the role of Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterly at the Bayerische Staatsoper in a production by Wolf Buses and under the musical direction of Daniel Oren. She will sing alongside Freddie De Tommaso as Pinkerton,, Boris Pinkhasovich as Sharpless, and Annalisa Stroppa as Suzuki. There will be four performances on October 24, 28, 31, and November 3, 2023.

The Bulgarian soprano has already graced the stage of the Bayerische Staatsoper as Violetta in La traviata, Mimì in La bohème, and the title role of Tosca. She will return to Munich as Norma in May and June 2024.
