On September 9, Sonya Yoncheva will make her eagerly awaited debut in the title role of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, in a concert performance that also marks her Staatsoper Hamburg debut, under the musical direction of Maestro Francesco Ivan Ciampa. She will sing alongside Brian Jagde as Des Grieux, Kartal Karagedik as Lescaut and Tigran Martirossian as Geronte. There will be two more performances on September 12 and 15. Sonya’s originally scheduled debut as Manon Lescaut at the Metropolitan Opera in 2020 and at the Bayerische Staatsoper earlier this year had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.
